We enjoyed a family trip on the last Saturday of September – our destination was Scotland v Romania in Lille, one of the 9 French host cities for RWC 2023, and roughly a 3-hour drive from home. As a party of 6 – with Sabine & Sander joining us too – we made an overnight trip of it, with a hotel in Belgium as our ‘local’ base.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the immersive experience – lots of activity on the plaza outside, enough choice in fan-gear to be bought, and plenty of food & drink available! Inside the stadium we had a good view of the pitch, and really enjoyed the match – together with ±46.000 other supporters … 🙂
Although a lot of the regular Scottish XV were not in the line-up for their third pool match it was, unfortunately for Romania, still an 84-0 win …! And, as always, what a display of respect between the teams and the fans (other field sports can take a good example from this!).
