As a treat for Luc’s completion of his final year at secondary school we had a father-son weekend at the Nürburgring Classic during the last weekend of May, shortly after he completed his final exams. With accommodation close to the circuit, 2-day circuit access, and ±25km of walking – a veritable petrol-head fest, the days filled with everything from pre-war vintage up to young-timers, including various generations of Formula 1 cars, European sportscars and American muscle.
We pretty much had access to all areas, including a number of pit and grid walks, as well as to all of the grandstands – our picture tally of 3.500 photo’s over the 2-day event is indicative of how much there was to see …!
We wrapped up the weekend with a visit to the Nürburgring kart track where we put electric karts through their paces during 2 heats, and then headed back home – well-satisfied, and riding the high of unburned hydrocarbons & rubber … 🙂
