This was an unplanned trip, due to the unexpected death of Neil at the end of March.
We’d not originally intended to visit SA this year, so our April plans for the Czech Republic were shelved and we cancelled the reservations. It wasn’t easy to find acceptable flights in regard to cost vs. duration, but we managed to sort ourselves out OK.
We started with a weekend in Cape Town – back in our trusted digs, Sun Cottage, in Somerset West – and were able to visit Mom twice during this time. We needed to have negative Covid-19 test results for this, and the required steps make for an interesting side plot (more on that later … π). We also had 2 great catch-up lunch dates: the 1st together with auntie Essie & uncle William at Vergenoegd Wine Estate, and the 2nd with Christa & Hanlie at De Brasserie in Strand (both addresses are well worth a visit …!).
We headed off to Plettenberg Bay after the weekend, and had a good drive. Lunch break in Swellendam, and lots of fun with Peppermint Crisp milkshakes …! Once in Plettenberg Bay, we managed to assist Sharon on various fronts.
We managed to visit the Knysna Elephant Park & Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary, as well as numerous beach visits (to both Nature’s Valley & Keurboomstrand) which the children really enjoyed …!
