The first weekend of the year was a traditional family long weekend to kick off the new year, this time together with Sabine & Sander; we all descended on a Landal cottage close to Hoogcruts, in Zuid-Limburg.
We had a couple of group outings, to the Roman Catacombs in Valkenburg, and to Val-Dieu Abbey close to Aubel in Belgium; Ellen & I visited the war cemetery at Margraten while the younger generation visited a brewery in Gulpen. We also had some walks in the surrounding countryside, meandering through Dutch vineyards(!).
The weather was wintry, a light dusting of snow on Monday provided a magical air to our departure.
